Lunch Box du Mont is not inside Mont Saint-Michel. It is a takeaway lunch service based at La boutique Produits Régionaux LEFRANC, on the mainland, a few minutes' walk from where the free shuttles leave for the Mont. You collect your lunch on your way in, and you eat it wherever and whenever you like during your day.
Everything is prepared the same morning by producers from La Manche — I don't cook anything myself, I work with the people who do. Three menus: La Baguette du Mont, Le Bun du Mont and Le Bowl du Mont. All of them are made to be carried and eaten by hand or on your knees, without plates or cutlery to return.

Every menu includes a main, a bag of local crisps, a farm yogurt of your choice and a drink.

What is actually local about it
« Local » is an easy word to write, so here is what it means here, precisely:
- The crisps come from La Ferme de l'Odon, in Normandy.
- The farm yogurts come from Pivette & Palorette, a Norman dairy farm.
- The local drinks in the Découverte format come from Normandy producers: artisan sodas, iced teas, juices, regional beers and Normandy cider.
- Everything is prepared the same morning by producers in La Manche, in limited quantities.
- Collection happens at La boutique Produits Régionaux LEFRANC, a family shop that has been introducing visitors to the region's specialities for more than three generations.
Not every single ingredient is grown within sight of the bay, and I am not going to claim otherwise. What I can tell you is who makes what, and where.
Why order before your visit?
Mont Saint-Michel takes time: the walk across, the ramparts, the abbey and its 350-odd steps. Lunch is the part that usually breaks the day in two.
- You don't lose the middle of the day looking for a table.
- You eat when you are hungry, not when a restaurant can seat you.
- Your lunch is waiting a few minutes' walk from the shuttles, on your way in.
- You choose where to eat: facing the bay, by the dam, at a picnic area, or on a bike ride.

Visiting Mont Saint-Michel takes time and energy: the walk across the causeway, the climb through the village, the abbey. Lunch is the part that most visitors underestimate, and the part that most often ruins the rhythm of the day. At around half past twelve everyone is hungry at once, the village restaurants fill up, and a well-planned visit stops for an hour and a half.
Lunch Box du Mont exists to remove that problem. Meals are prepared every morning by producers in La Manche, ordered online before 7pm the day before, and collected from 10am at La boutique Produits Régionaux LEFRANC on the mainland — a few minutes' walk from the free shuttle departure point and from the footpath across to the Mont. Collection runs Monday to Saturday. You take your lunch with you and eat it where you like: facing the bay, by the Couesnon dam, at a picnic area, on the ramparts, or partway round a bike ride.
Three menus cover most appetites. La Baguette du Mont is a traditional French baguette sandwich and the only one available in child sizes. Le Bun du Mont is a soft artisan bun, filled generously and served cold. Le Bowl du Mont is a poke-style bowl you compose yourself, for a lighter lunch. Each comes with local crisps, a farm yogurt and a drink — a Normandy drink in the Découverte format, or still water in the Balade format.
If you would rather not plan ahead, a small selection is available in the shop each day without ordering, subject to stock, including on Sundays. Ordering online is simply the only way to be sure of getting the recipe and the size you want.
